Gift of Adoption
For over 10 years, the Keller Foundation has provided nearly $300,000 through its small grants program, aiding Gift of Adoption’s mission to unite children with families.
The Gift of Adoption mission is to provide adoption assistance grants to complete the adoptions of children in vulnerable circumstances—giving them permanent families and a chance to thrive.
Having been blessed with the ability to grow their family through adoption, noticing how so many hopeful adoptive parents were deterred and too many adoptions were being delayed because of the barrier that adoption costs presented, Lucy and Gene Wyka decided to pay it forward.
In 1996, with the sole purpose of helping children become adopted, they established a private family foundation.
‘Yet it quickly became obvious to us that under the existing private fund structure, we would only be able to scratch the surface in terms of providing financial assistance to those longing to adopt and the children who were in need of permanent, loving families,’ added Lucy.
To expand their vision, Lucy and Gene changed the legal status of the fund from a private to a public charity. This allowed affiliate chapters to then form and function as fundraising partners, sharing in the Gift of Adoption mission and non-profit 501(c) 3 status – rallying local efforts to serve more children and family with the gift of family across the country.
